Co-operation ProLeiT AG and Mitsubishi Electric
Ratingen, 7 March 2006 – Mitsubishi Electric is stepping up its process industry related activities and has announced a cooperation agreement with ProLeiT AG in Herzogenrauch.
The new partnership has been formed for the development of system solutions for the process industry based on Mitsubishi Electric’s Melsec System Q modular controller platform and ProLeiT’s Plant iT process control system. The focus is on process applications for the food and beverages industry.
Over the last three years Mitsubishi Electric has systematically upgraded its Melsec System Q automation platform for the requirements of process applications. Today this controller system supports the configuration of redundant systems and component replacement during operation, and it also offers great flexibility with a modular concept and a transparent communications system.
ProLeiT is now building on this potential for the development of an integrated solution in combination with its Plant iT software system. The modular system is designed for use in a very wide range of process applications and encompasses all components required for integrated, all-in solutions, including process control technology, production data management and MES solutions.
Both companies agree that the partnership holds out excellent prospects for growth. “ProLeiT has an outstanding reputation in the food and beverages industry,” says Peter Mischitz, head of the Mitsubishi Electric’s Industrial Automation division in Germany. “Working together we can both gain better access to this important and high-potential market.”
ProLeiT also sees the cooperation as a classic win-win constellation. “Mitsubishi Electric has a global presence and is also the market leader in Asia; this is going to be very helpful for us when it comes to developing these new markets,” explains Gottfried Hochfellner, head of marketing and sales at ProLeiT. He says that ProLeit’s first short-term objective is the system development of Plant iT for Mitsubishi. In the medium and long term the company plans to develop complete projects for Mitsubishi Electric, including projects in Asia.
