Friesisches Brauhaus zu Jever, Jever/Germany - Process control system receives logistics data via RFID
The Friesian brewery Jever is implementing RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology for the optimization of the group’s internal traffic of goods and reporting as to compliance purposes and product tracking. In an initial phase of expansion, the brewery realized a touch-free means of identifying tank trucks. This truck identification system automates data recording when loading and unloading and also when emptying out and cleaning tank trucks. The RFID truck identification system at the tank truck station is directly integrated into the existing brewmaxx process control system from ProLeiT. Each process step automatically generates a log line after completion for production data management. Part of this log line is the tank truck ID as read by the RFID antenna. The complete delivery process is thus automated together with all of the data. There is no longer a need for handwritten logs and as a result, a source of errors is eliminated. This means that the recording and archiving of logistics data with direct relevance to product and production data is put on a whole new footing. The RFID link to the brewmaxx open process control system means that all of the requirements, for example to cleanly link central brewing and decentralized filling into the production planning system in an automated and technical way, are met. The link between the RFID technology and the brewmaxx process control system also however simplifies the flexible response of breweries to changed market situations. With tank trucks, fluctuations in capacity can be balanced out between various brewing sites and their filling lines. High demands in the brewhouse can therefore be optimally aligned via decentralized filling stations or external mass filling companies with low transport costs.
