Two decades of process control technology in Central Franconia, Germany
Herzogenaurach, June 2006. This software company was founded in 1986 in Erlangen, Germany as “PROLEIT, Gesellschaft für technologieorientierte Prozessleittechnik mbH” and moved to Herzogenaurach in 1992 – and now looks back over 20 successful years.
From a small engineering company with initially two employees, ProLeiT has in the meantime become a global player in the automation of process technology systems and has more than 150 employees. “Our success is due to our personnel, who have always given everything they can. The open and innovative working environment at ProLeiT is reflected by the particularly low fluctuation“ explained Manfred Czepl, of ProLeiT AG’s management board.
Process control technology “made by ProLeiT“ is in use today around the world in companies in the brewing industry, dairy industry, beverage and foodstuffs industries and in the chemicals and pharmaceuticals industry. Solutions cover the entire field of automation and information technology from the field to the management level.
ProLeiT has been using its own software products since 1989 for the implementation of the usually very specific tasks in sectors that are predominantly shaped by process technology. “We soon encountered the problem that the process control systems available on the market were not optimal for the needs of our customers“ says Wolfgang Ebster, spokesman of ProLeiT AG’s management board. “The decision to develop our own system proved again and again in the years that followed to have been correct. The software technology know-how of our system developers is constantly updated by means of close cooperation with the project development teams. In this way, sector-specific, process-specific experience flows directly into system development. With this combination of technological knowledge and sector-oriented direction, we were able to develop a solution competence unique to the market“.
This solution competence also convinced the customers: Müller Milch commissioned ProLeiT AG to automate the currently largest dairy in Europe in Leppersdorf, and ProLeiT also took charge of all system automation in the course of the rebuilding of the Dutch brewery Grolsch – one of the most prominent industrial projects of recent years in the Netherlands.
In terms of marketing, ProLeiT focuses on proximity to customers. In addition to the head office in Herzogenaurach, in the meantime two branch offices in Germany are strengthening local presence, as well as subsidiaries in the Netherlands, Austria, Russia and Slovakia. Further ventures are planned for China and Brazil. Selected and qualified partner offices and the brewmaxx subsidiary (specialized in the brewery industry) round off the acquisitive competence.
ProLeiT is extremely well equipped for the future. The Plant iT software family is being widened within the framework of cooperation with Mitsubishi and thus international market presence is being further expanded.
As an integrated and additional system service, MES functions ensure the technical competitiveness of the Plant iT own-developed process control system in the relevant markets.
